Now did you know the nine main areas of software development, The next thing to determine is what kind of developer will you become.

So the easiest way to determine that is by your interest, because you're going to be most successful if you're interested in your work. So if you are interested in making video games you go become a video game developer. If you are interested in mathematics, statistics and you like to work with data to predict or forecast the future - artificial intelligence then you go become a data scientist. Same with web apps mobile apps desktop apps or any other area.

Now if you are kind of neutral then I have certain suggestions for you that's going to increase your chances of success.

So that natural answer is that you want to become a web developer because there is more opportunity and there is more work and more scope of work in the market for a web developer than any other kind of developer.

So let me just make that case. So let's say there are so many companies in the world. There is a video game company right. Does the video game company have a website? Yes they do. So they need a web developer.

A data science company. Do they need a website? Yes they do, so they need a web developer. Operating system companies, embedded system companies, dev-ops companies, desktop app companies, mobile app companies, do they need a website? In most cases, 99% of the chances are that all the companies in the world need a website and hence there is a need for a web developer. So that is why there is more work. There is 35% of the work happening in the web app department and there's more work and more opportunity and more jobs out there for web development.

That's why the safest and the most long term and lucrative part of a development area is web development. In fact, a lot of the desktop apps, and the mobile apps, actually rely on the Internet. So let's say if you're talking about a slack application or the Skype application or the mobile app for let's say Instagram or Facebook mobile app they actually need data from the Internet. So actually they need a web developer to power that data which is a backend developer.

So all of this most of the companies need the Internet and internet is mostly programmed by a backend developer, a web developer. So the safest answer is that you want to become a web developer.
